BUFFET RESTAURANTS Full Board Buffet Meals are Included in the Room Rate (Breakfast: 0730-1000 | Lunch: 1230-1400 | Dinner: 1900-2100) The main restaurant, where you enjoy "all you can eat" serving buffet style meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner, a variety of international and regional cuisines to please everyone's taste. Friday night dinner is Maldivian night with a themed menu and waiters in traditional dress.­ Sunday breakfast welcomes you with complimentary Sparkling Wine. The buffet lines include live action cooking stations where food is prepared to your order. Soups, breads and desserts are homemade and the fresh, tropical fruits are delicious. Your waiter will seat you at whichever available table you prefer and will make you feel welcome and at home with his friendly and attentive service. The Restaurant is divided into 2 separate dining areas, in the traditional open air style with sand floor and thatched roof. There is also outdoor seating on a wooden deck. Guests with special dietary needs should advise us, beforehand. Dress can be very casual. Many guests are barefoot. Woman may wear bathing suits with a cover-up for breakfast and lunch. Men are required to wear shirts with sleeves at all times in the Restaurants.­

Dinner Service Our wait staff will be at your service during your entire dinner. If your have special dietary needs, please so advise.­ Candlelight Dinners are available every day from 1900 until 2200. Please book your table no later than 1200 on the day of your dinner.­

Activities

SNORKELING The reef around Vilamendhoo is spectacular and very close to the beach. It is a wonderful experience to see the reef and its marine life while snorkeling. To go to the reef, simply walk into the water and snorkel to the inside of the reef. Snorkel through any of the 10 “channels” through the reef to reach the outside of the reef, along the “wall". Snorkel along the reef, in the direction against the current, as there is always some current, sometimes strong.­ If the current is too strong for your experience or comfort, then return inside the reef and return to the beach. When done snorkeling, return through any of the 10 “channels” through the reef to reach the beach.

SCUBA DIVING About Vilamendhoo Diving The Maldives are beautiful coral islands surrounded by living reef, 26 Atolls in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Water temperature is warm (26 - 30 degrees Celsius) and varies with depth (0 - 30 meters). Coral is fragile and grows very slowly, about 2.5 cm per year, so to avoid damage, do not touch or step on it. In 1998, the extraordinarily warm waters of El Nino passed throughout the oceans, including the Maldives.­The high temperature killed much coral, resulting in its bleached appearance. Now, the coral is growing, again, and we hope this continues so that in the future, it will be as magnificent as it was in the past. We also see an abundance and variety of other marine creatures found on the living reef, including 150 species of tropical fish such as sweet lips, trigger fish, butterfly fish, porcupine fish and many more. Most marine life that we encounter is harmless, however some, such as stonefish, scorpion fish and lion fish may give a dangerous sting.­ These fish are rarely found in a sandy lagoon but to be safe, always watch where you place your bare feet. The lagoon is a safe nursery in which juvenile sharks and rays grow and learn to survive. Eventually, they­ move outside the lagoon into the reef zone. It is interesting and fun to watch the baby sharks herd baitfish trying to catch the weak ones for a meal. Also, to watch the rays burrow into the sand looking for crabs to eat. In the Maldives, these marine creatures are considered harmless when treated in the proper manner. Diving with reef sharks and manta rays is a popular attraction. From June through October, it is the season to dive with Mantas at Manta Point. You may also see blotched fantail, porcupine, mangrove whip, torpedo and eagle rays. All year, the waters around Vilamendhoo are well known for seeing whale sharks. Full day trips are frequently scheduled to nearby Mamigili, the 1st Whale Shark National Park. You may also see white tip, grey, silvertip, nurse, guitar and zebra sharks. Hawksbill and green turtles may also be seen from time to time. Spinner dolphins are commonly seen, usually from aboard a boat because the dolphins are shy creatures.
PADI Courses Our fully qualified international team of 10 - 12 PADI Instructors and Divemasters are at your service. We speak English, German, French, Dutch and Japanese. PADI course materials are available in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Dutch and Japanese. Our services and facilities include guided diving and snorkeling trips, equipment and accessory sales, rental and a complete PADI Instructional Program and NITROX.­
Bubble Makers:­­ A fun scuba dive for children in water shallower than 2 meters. Ages: 8+.
Discover Diving:­ Introductory dive in shallow depths for people who love being in the water Ages: 10+.­Schedule: 0915 am every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday & Sunday.
PADI Scuba Diver (PSD): Learn a few beginner skills so that you feel comfortable with your equipment and explore the house reef to a maximum depth of 12 meters together with your Instructor. You can continue with more such dives during your holiday.
Daily Dives Every day we offer trips to as many as 8 different dive sites. Our regular schedule offers: Morning Dives, Afternoon Dives, Whale Shark and Manta Dive Excursions, Full Day Dive Excursions (2-3 dives), Night Dives, Night 2 Tank Dive Excursions. We offer a wide range of dive sites every day, with easy dives for less experienced divers and more demanding locations for those with more practice. On request we also guide experienced divers without extra charge.
Equipment Rentals We offer a broad range of diving equipment for our guests to rent..Why not make a photographic diary of your experiences by renting one of our four digital underwater cameras.­Nitrox fills are available at no extra charge for divers with enriched air certification.­
Diver's Night Every Monday and Wednesday at 2100 at the Bonthi Bar, the Euro-Divers Team presents a popular video each week showing the beautiful underwater world that you see around Vilamendhoo and in the Maldives, its diving and snorkeling activities. Guests who complete their dive course are presented with their Diploma.­The Dive Center staff looks forward to being of assistance and to answer your questions.

WATER SPORTS Water Sports Center In addition to snorkeling and diving, there is a variety of other water sports equipment to enjoy including windsurfing, catamaran and kayak. Equipment can be rented and lessons can be booked at the Water Sports Center.
Water Sports services are subject to availability and weather conditions. Damage, loss, etc, to the equipment will be charged to the guest at repair or replacement value. Guests may not use any water sports equipment without prior approval from the Water Sports Center staff.

LAND SPORTS Sports Facilities Vilamendhoo provides a variety of sports facilities including a Fitness Center, Volleyball Court, Badminton, Petanque, Snooker, Table Tennis, Mahjong Table, Billiards, Darts, Football Grounds, Swimming Pool and a Children's Pool.

EXCURSIONS Snorkeling Boat Trip Experience the underwater wonderland, transported by Dhoni to a nearby coral reef. Rent snorkelling equipment from the Dive Center or purchase it from the Gift Shop. Remember not to touch the coral or any other marine creatures! It is illegal to collect live shells or coral. For swimmers only. Non-swimmers are not allowed. Minimum age is 12. "Love Boat" Excursion Enjoy a wonderful 2 hour Dhoni ride to and then on your own private sandbank…sunbathe, snorkel, swim, relax…the ultimate romantic getaway…after which return home on a sunset cruise. Canapes, fruit punch, soft drinks and water are served onboard. Rent snorkelling equipment from the Dive Center or purchase it from the Gift Shop. Minimum age is 12. A child under 16 must be accompanied by a parent.
Sunset 'Punch' Cruise Enjoy a late afternoon boat trip on a local Dhoni while watching a beautiful tropical sunset, with a glass of special punch in hand and if you're lucky, some dolphins may join in the fun! A child under 16 must be accompanied by a parent.
Robinson Crusoe "Sand Bank" Excursion Your own private island...the ultimate romantic getaway! We drop you off in the morning and pick you up before lunch (enough sun for the day). A picnic breakfast and drinks are included. Rent snorkelling equipment from the Dive Center or purchase it from the Gift Shop. Minimum age is 12. A child under 16 must be accompanied by a parent.
Dhangethi Island Excursion Visit a nearby local island and see how our neighbors live and work together in more of a traditional lifestyle. Shop for souvenirs in the local shops…take US$ cash. The required clothing to be worn when visiting a local island is at the minimum a short sleeve t-shirt; knee length shorts for women, and shorts for men. Minimum age is 12. A child under 16 must be accompanied by a parent.
Whale Shark Excursion Experience the excitement of seeing magnificent Whale Sharks. Hopefully (not guaranteed) see, photograph and maybe swim with Whale Sharks…Rent snorkeling equipment from the Dive Center or purchase it from the Gift Shop. For swimmers only. Minimum age is 12. Manta & Turtle Excursion Experience the excitement of seeing magnificent Mantas and Turtles. Ocean Discoverer - Full Day A must for all snorkelling enthusiasts! This full day excursion will take you to the 2 most famous snorkeling spots in the Maldives: Manta Point and Whale Shark Point (not guaranteed to spot them on every excursion). To top off your snorkeling experience, we’ll also visit popular reefs in this area to see as many different sea creatures in one day. Lunch provided on board.
